Latest News

Dear Parents,

We are now planning to restart all dance classes at Challoner on Saturday 17th April.

Please continue to view our Facebook page for updates.

All pupils in Year 7 and above will be required to wear face coverings when entering Challoner and when moving between classes.

The mezzanine cafe will be open on Saturdays but all adults must wear masks unless eating or drinking and observe these guidelines:

Queue for service must be socially distanced.

Only sit in family groups

Tables and chairs must be kept 2 metres apart

Parents waiting should either wait in the mezzanine cafe or in their cars. Please do not wait in any other indoor part of the school.

Mrs Hazell will be accepting fee payments in the main reception as usual.

WA Cheer/Street/MT classes at Corpus –

Unfortunately we are unable to start these classes until Mrs Baxter, the Head Teacher at Corpus has given permission.
Please contact us if you would like your child to join the Musical Theatre class from 12.45 to 1.30pm on Saturdays at Challoner instead of the Tuesday MT class at Corpus.

Please keep up to date with our Facebook posts.

Thank you as always for your support over this very difficult time.

Classes for Adults – also restarting in April.

I am pleased to announce that the government guidelines have been updated and we will continue with our Adult Modern and Adult Tap classes. Miss Josie and Miss Kelly will be implementing social distancing within their classes as required. Please remember to wear your face mask until you arrive in class.
Adult Modern with Miss Josie runs between 9am and 9.30am and Adult Tap with Miss Kelly between 10am and 10.30am. Both classes cost £5 each with payment direct to the teachers on a pay as you go basis. All abilities are welcome! Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a bottle of water!

Notice to stop classes

Parents are reminded that notice of one half term is required if pupils wish to stop classes, otherwise fees will still be required. As per the WA policies and regulations, no refunds can be given for missed classes. Parents are reminded that classes were running in December and payments will be due with the April fees if not already settled.

Please make sure that pupils are wearing correct uniform – the blue leotards and skirts for beginner pupils are available from Dancia International in Ewell who also stock all the dance shoes.

New uniform will still be available to purchase on Saturdays at Richard Challoner as follows:

Black leotards and skirts for seniors, blue leotards and skirts for Grade 2 ballet and above, purple leotards for JA pupils and black shorts for Modern.

The second hand sales will be limited to reduce handling but please ask Mrs Hazell if you require something specific.

Please make sure that all uniform is labelled.

Cafe and Local Shops

Only Secondary school age pupils are permitted in the cafe area without parental supervision.

Everyone is responsible for keeping the area tidy so please use the bins provided. Parents are reminded that children should not be allowed to play in the Canteen area or on the stairs.

Secondary school-age pupils must be wearing appropriate clothing over their leotards and tights if they wish to go to the local shops during breaks between classes.

Security At Challoner

Challoner’s security system means the inner doors through to the hallway will be locked for safety reasons. Parents collecting from weekday classes are able to wait in the Reception area. Pupils arriving for weekday classes should wait in the Reception area until their dance teacher is available, usually about 15 minutes before classes begin.

Please take care when driving in and out of Challoner and follow the instructions of the site staff.

If Corpus Christi or Richard Challoner Schools are closed for health and safety reasons  or because of bad weather, no WA classes will be running. Updates will be posted on our website and Facebook page. Unfortunately, if classes have to be cancelled, no alternative dates will be available or reimbursements paid.
